MotioCI - Regression Testing for Cognos
MotioCI provides powerful regression testing capabilities for Cognos BI content. BI team members can build test cases which ensure that Cognos report specifications (or other artifacts) adhere to project or corporate standards with respect to look and feel, report structure, local calculations, naming conventions, report parameters and more.
Testcases can also be developed which ensure that when executed, reports produce the expected results and complete within the expected period of time.
Test projects are configured in MotioCI to automatically execute at designated intervals (e.g. "every 2 hours"). When any portion of a test project begins to fail, MotioCI will proactively notify the BI team that a problem has been detected. In this respect, it acts as a "smoke detector" for the BI environment.
MotioCI represents a BI best practice with regard to automatic testing of Cognos reports, models and other content.
MotioCI also does a lot more than regression testing of Cognos content.
