Motio Sponsors Robotics Competition

HOUSTON, June 27, 2017 -- In April 2017, Motio helped sponsor the “Techno Warriors” team at the First Lego League (FLL) World Championships in Houston, Texas. There were 110 teams in the competition, including those from Asia, South America, and Africa.

Motio sponsors the Robo Kids

First Lego League encourages children to research real-world problems, and develop a solution. They must design, build, and program a Lego robot and compete on a table-top playing field. FLL encourages students to think, design, and build a robot, introducing them to engineering at a young age. The software engineers at Motio believe it’s imperative to encourage students to pursue their passions in the engineering fields. This year’s challenge was to work with Animal Allies, to create a solution that improves interactions between people and animals. The Techno Warriors decided to create a solution for an issue at Virunga National Park in Congo, Africa. There, many gorillas are getting killed in crossfire of civilian weapons. The team had to come up with a solution for this problem.

The Techno Rarriors hard at work

The Techno Warriors advanced to the FLL World Championship after scoring high at the North Texas Championship. The Techno Warrors placed 38th in the competition.

"When our Dev content store crashed, we had just implemented MotioCI four months prior. If we had not had MotioCI, we would have been in a really, really bad situation. Right there, it paid for itself. We would have lost months worth of development effort that was only in the Dev environment...

"I know of one instance several weeks ago where a set of reports went missing off the development environment and a ticket was submitted for the BACC support team. We were able to quickly show them how you can just restore the missing reports using MotioCI and their panic was over. It's...
